For visualizing the changing of people or groups in competition with each other, bar chart race is a good choice.(source: envato element)

In recent years, the use of bar chart race has become more frequent.
For example, population growth among countries and the sales status of each product are compared.

Bar chart race is good at visualizing the changing of people or groups in competition with each other. The chart below is a good example of bar chart race, that gives the reader a quick look at how the population of each country has changed over the decades.

In bar chart race, where an item’s position in an ordered list is the most important thing about your visualization. We can observe their competitive situation through the growth between projects.

The number of confirmed cases in Taiwan is about 16,000. (source: envato element)

The vaccines currently available in Taiwan are AstraZeneca (AZ), Moderna, Medigen, and PfizerBioNTech (BNT), and people are free to choose the vaccine they want to administer.

Recently, there has been a lot of vaccine-related news in Taiwan.
There are lots of fake news stories on all major media platforms( ex. Facebook, line ,Ins…), and people are often confused about the facts.

“ The vaccine will destroy my immune system”, “ a certain brand of vaccine is terrible”, “ no one wants to get this vaccine”, “ there is simple not enough vaccine”, etc.

These news makes us reflect on the situation: in fact, what is the status if vaccination in Taiwan?

The source of the above bar chart race is Taiwan CDC( Center for Disease Control ), as of 2021.9.5.

The covid-19 vaccine has been adminstered in Taiwan since March of this year.

Since Taiwan was well protected from covid-19 outbreak, the vaccine was administered slowly at first.

Starting around June, the number of vaccination is growth rapidly.

Before the outbreak of covid-19, there was even a situation of “ no one wanted the vaccine” due to zero local confirmation.Later, when the outbreak began, the government and the people worked together to prevent the epidemic.People went online and filled out info to choose which vaccines they wanted to administer, when and where they wanted to administer them.

Taiwan currently offers three brands of vaccines for administration.

The vaccines already administered in Taiwan are AstraZeneca (AZ), Moderna, Medigen.Taiwan CDC expects to administer the fourth vaccine, PfizerBioNTech (BNT), on 9/23. This is a vaccine that can be administer to minors, so priority will be given to students.

The first vaccine to be administrate and the one with highest number of administered vaccines is AZ.

The first vaccine to arrive in Taiwan this March was the AstraZeneca (AZ).
In addition to the vaccine procured by the Taiwanese government itself, many countries have also given Taiwan AstraZeneca (AZ) as a gift, such as Japan, Poland, and Lithuania.
Since the AstraZeneca (AZ) was the first to be administered, the availability of the vaccine is relatively abundant, and the international recognition of the vaccine is high. Therefore, there are many people in Taiwan who choose the AstraZeneca (AZ).

Medigen is the last vaccine to be administered and is currently the vaccine chosen by the fewest people.

Medigen is produced in Taiwan and will be available on 8.23.2021.
Besides the late availability of Medigen, the public is also concerned about the actual efficacy and side effects, resulting in a relatively small number of people receiving the vaccine.

Recently, the outbreak in Taiwan has slowed down and people are receiving the second dose of the vaccine smoothly. As of 2021.9.6, the covid-19 vaccination population coverage rate in Taiwan is 44.60 %.

However, with the continued prevalence of fake news, vaccination may be hit again.Hope the above information will help the public to have a certain level of understanding of the vaccination status in Taiwan and avoid further circulation of misinformation.
